Jesus Curses the Fruitless Tree

This week we will be digging deeper into what might appear to be a random story in the middle of Matthew 21 (verses 18-22). After Jesus cleanses the Temple, we read about Him cursing the barren fig tree. Why is this story relevant to all that Jesus is doing and teaching in Jerusalem? Kingdom Come: Dressed for the King

This week we're going to look at the Parable of the Wedding Feast in Matthew 22:1-14. That's the one that strikes terror in our hearts! The King inspects the guests and finds a person without a wedding garment, and he's thrown into outer darkness with weeping and gnashing of teeth. What kind of king is this? What kind of a kingdom is this? Am I dressed appropriately?? Come this Sunday and be surprised at the answer!

One of the first phrases that we voice as children is 'that's not fair!' No one has to teach us to say that when we're given a smaller piece of birthday cake or have an earlier bedtime than our siblings. It seems we have this innate sense of getting what we deserve that we carry into adulthood -- to our jobs, our relationships, and even to the church. Join us as we return to Matthew's Gospel where Jesus tells the parable of the workers in the vineyard to teach us about how the Kingdom of Heaven works. Is it based on fairness or on what we deserve? No, it's based on the riches of grace bestowed by the Master of the vineyard.

Whew! We made it through another difficult year! What will 2022 bring and how will we handle it? We begin with the most fundamental qualities of self -- our identity. Our core identity determines our values and our actions, how we think and how we live. Join us as we study Ephesians 2:1-10 and learn who we were, who we are, how we got there, and what we are to do.

Come Out of Babylon

Start the New Year off on the right foot! Maybe this past year, you’ve gotten out of the habit of coming to church or your prayer life has suffered or your worship hasn’t been whole-hearted. If that’s you, we encourage you to get on your knees and confess that to God. Don’t come into 2022 with unrepented sin.

Jesus, Prince of Peace

The last couple of years have taken a toll on us. Anxiety and depression were already an epidemic in our country. The pandemic, social and political unrest, and divisions have only exacerbated our sense of foreboding. Our world only offers us coping mechanisms and management tools for our anxiety, but the Bible offers us a solution. This Sunday we are going to learn why Jesus is called the Prince of Peace and how we can experience real peace through Jesus here and now.
